Founder

Me? Dreamer, geek and problem-solver with an insatiable thirst to know how things work (even if it involves taking them apart). I have spent the last 6 years building world-class technology teams to accelerate the growth of many amazing companies across the globe. 

 

Combining my passion for people and technology led me into the world of talent, and I haven’t looked back since. I love what I do and the fact I get to change peoples lives everyday. 

 

I am a geek at heart. When I was younger, you would have found me playing with my first computer at 11, gaming away on my Nintendo, cutting my teeth programming with Pascal at college or building simulations with Matlab during my Maths degree. Now, you will find me immersed in the newest technology trends (AI at the moment), declaring my love to Apple or trying out every new gadget I can get my hands on.

 

I am full of creativity and ideas (sometimes too many, ask my fellow founders!) and I can’t wait to see the impact Augmentti can make on the world!

And as for me, well my eye for detail and drive to meet new and different people led me into the world of talent. Everyone has a different story to tell within the evolving world of Technology, and I love finding out about what people do and why, changing lives and building careers. The constant developments in technology; new languages, new standards, new ways of applying technology to new (and old!) problems also means I am constantly learning from speaking with passionate and talented people, reading blogs and attending events - which I love!

 

I too am certainly a geek at heart :) With a degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, I enjoy digging into the detail of why things happen, and understanding the world at a more granular level. The power and potential of technology to solve a huge variety of problems fascinates me; we are always investigating new tools and techniques to automate processes and make our lives easier, so we can spend more time doing the things we enjoy! Diversity and Inclusion (especially within Technology and Finance!) is a space I am really passionate about; I am always interested in learning about new initiatives and organisations targeting this problem.

I’m an autodidact, something I’ve put to use in the many and varied fields I’ve found interesting, be it music, philosophy, economics, sport, sustainable energy, crypto & blockchain technology, engineering or astronomy… If it piques my interest, I have an insatiable need to understand it!

 

I have a significant interest in how companies and teams develop, operate and grow, a desire to understand how businesses utilise talent to achieve goals, how leaders build high-performing teams, and how culture develops within organisations.

 

This interest has led me to work on a wide variety of talent acquisition projects, team-builds and senior leadership hires with clients across the financial industry, spanning top tier banking and investment management institutions, through to start-up FinTech firms across the world.

 

My main focus is on quantitative, systematic trading teams within hedge funds, proprietary trading firms and banks, across Europe and North America.

Technical Recruiter 

Well, I’m just a nerd tbh; I love finding weird and wonderful ways to connect with hard to find talent. I get a lot of enjoyment from being able to flex my mental/creative muscles especially when it comes to sourcing great talent. For me, recruiting is my ideal place to come up with new ideas, experiment, fail (fail some more), and ultimately learn how to do things better than they’ve been done before. That’s the stuff that excites me. It’s why I’m such a strong believer in the principles of Kaizen (continuous improvement)…I just have to eek out those marginal gains!

 

If everyone’s zigging, I’m almost certainly zagging - meaning I’m absolutely compelled (for better or worse 😅) to find a better, more efficient way of doing things if everyone else is doing something in a standard way. So far this approach has been a competitive advantage for me in the world of recruitment and I’m super excited to apply it to the quant and tech trading space.

In my personal life, I have a young son with my partner, Sophie (not Sophie Grant 😂). Reading fantasy novels is a recent pastime of mine, and I have recently found a new love for tennis, which has quickly become an obsession. Currently, my go-to show is Tulsa King, and my all-time favourite movie is Gladiator. Although I enjoy food, I admit that Sophie is a waaay better cook. I'm always happy to lend a hand in the kitchen as the designated dishwasher!

Talent

Hey there! I am Vina Parmar, but since joining Augmentti, I have acquired a range of nicknames that reflect my personality. From V-Dog to V-Money, V-Unit to V-La, and VP, I wear them all with pride!

My journey began when I was at a bar with friends and met a lady whose daughter was struggling to find a job as an EA. Although I had no experience, I offered to take a look at her CV and offered her a few tips on interviewing. I ended up starting a new position the following week and recommended her to the company where I worked. She got the job and became a valuable addition to the team. Witnessing her happiness and gratitude completely overwhelmed me and affirmed that this was the right profession for me.

 

I am a positive and energetic person who loves bringing a smile to people's faces. Whether it's cooking for friends, family, or colleagues, or giving them a taste of my unfiltered banter (which tends to get worse after a glass of wine!).

 

When I am not working, I am always striving to push myself to new limits, both physically and mentally. I love activities like boot camp, badminton, trekking, and top golf. And when I am in the mood to relax, I enjoy watching K-Dramas and psychological thrillers.

My role at Augmentti is to keep morale high, provide endless entertainment and encourage everyone to have regular breaks from their desk (and play with me).

 

I’m famous within the WeWork building for my infectious enthusiasm and happiness, and I frequently socialise with other WeWork members - spreading the Augmentti love!

 

My talents include some (basic) tricks, chasing pigeons off the roof terrace, and introducing myself to new people.

 

I’m often found sitting at the table with my fellow colleagues, ready to discuss important business activities or snuggle up next to you.

 

Oh yeah, and I’m really cute :)

I’m an experienced People leader, talent enthusiast and architect of scalable hiring strategies. Spending the last 10+ years building advanced research and technology teams for Quantitative Trading, and defining the hiring strategies and execution plans to scale two unicorns across the Metaverse and Fintech.

 

I’m passionate about building companies by defining talent strategies, attracting and retaining exceptional people and leading operational programmes across the people and talent ecosystem.

 

I’m curious, creative and data-driven. I get excited about researching the latest technical trends, identifying ways we can innovate in talent and simplifying chaos to optimise performance.

I have a global mindset, having spent eight years overseas in New York and Hong Kong.

 

I am a natural, approachable leader with outstanding interpersonal and intercultural skills. I am perfectly placed to communicate and engage across a diverse range of levels, quickly earning trust, confidence and respect. I thrive in high-pressure environments, providing flexibility, direction and clarity; an empathetic, influential presence. I create a cohesive, enjoyable work environment, with a constant focus on transparency. I am passionately people-focused as demonstrated by no turnover in my team over the past 7.5 years!

 

I contribute unique insight, humour and an unwavering commitment to excellence; an invaluable addition to any board room. When I'm not driving Augmentti forward, I enjoy walking my labradoodle Spencer, playing Tennis and drinking red wine.

With over two decades of combined experience in the world of talent, we have deep-rooted networks with software developers, machine learning engineers and quant researchers across the globe. In our goal to change the lives of all of those we work with, we have helped people from all different backgrounds to secure an exciting new challenge. Ranging from some of the most experienced e-trading quants and senior technologists from the big tech powerhouses, to the life blood of emerging tech startups and bright, inquisitive developers and researchers at the beginning of their careers. We don’t believe in bias, we believe that it is about ability and potential. As a result, our network is diverse, always evolving and includes some of the brightest minds in technology and quantitative trading.

 

We have partnered with a mix of global businesses across the Quant Finance & Technology space. We have helped one of the most successful quant hedge funds expand into Canada, while also being integral in almost doubling their technology function across the globe over the last 6 years. We have worked with one of the most exciting, emerging FinTech businesses to help them launch their London office and expand their development teams. We designed and implemented from scratch an all-encompassing intern and graduate programme for one of the hottest hedge funds globally, which we continue to monitor and iterate based on continuous feedback. We helped an Australian prop shop get a foot hold in the talent market in London, growing their low-latency engineering function significantly. We have been number 1 technology talent provider for one of the largest and fastest growing American investment banks, and we continue to be the sole technology talent partner for one of the newest, hottest $1 billion+ dollar hedge funds to have launched in 2017... to name a few!

 

At Augmentti, we live and breathe technology and quant trading. We are passionate about the world of software development, quant research and machine learning; we attend meet-ups, webinars and conferences to further our knowledge, learn about the latest trends in technology / trading, and embed ourselves in the community (one of us is even re-learning to code!).
